Hello again, world

Simon Kihlberg Wallström

Welcome to my refreshed corner of the internet! After running Hugo since 2022, I decided it was time to rebuild from scratch. This time with a clear purpose: write more and build in the open.

Why Now?

A lot has changed. I’m co-founder at OAIZ, where we’re building the future of AI automation. We are pushing boundaries with bleeding-edge approaches to autonomous AI systems.

This kind of work deserves to be shared. The challenges, the breakthroughs, the hard lessons learned. That’s what this site is for.

Building in the Open

The best companies and founders I know share their journey. Not just the wins, but the messy middle. The technical decisions, the pivots, the “oh shit” moments that led to breakthroughs.

I want to try this format to collect my thoughts, document what we’re learning, and share it along the way.

The Technical Refresh

I also modernized the tech stack because a blog about building cutting-edge AI shouldn’t run on 2022 tooling:

  • Astro 4.x - Zero JS, blazing fast, perfect for content
  • Content Collections - Type-safe, validated blog posts
  • Tailwind CSS - Modern, utility-first styling
  • TypeScript - Because types make everything better

Simple, fast, and gets out of the way so I can focus on writing. I’m not a front end guy (if I have a choice) so this is 100% vibed, thanks Claude.

What to Expect

This isn’t going to be a polished marketing blog. I’m writing about:

  • What we’re building at OAIZ - The technical challenges and architecture decisions
  • AI automation - Cool examples and use-cases we see in the wild
  • Building a startup - Leaning in and learning the non tech stuff
  • Engineering leadership - Creating environments where people (and AI agents) do their best work
  • Tech insights - Gold nuggets from 15+ years in tech, journey from IC to Head of Architecture (with detours)
  • Life balance - Raising kids, starting a business, trying to get jacked, and enjoying the ride

Let’s Build Together

If you’re working on AI automation, pushing boundaries with new tech, or just want to chat about what we’re building, reach out. I’m most active on LinkedIn and Twitter.

More posts coming soon. Let’s build in the open. 🚀
